Who are we?GYPNET is a network of researchers working on gypsum ecosystems throughout the world. The network was launched in 2016, with its first meeting being held at Aranjuez (Madrid, Spain). The network is completely open to any researcher interested in gypsum ecosystems. So far, it has members from different countries with important gypsum outcrops including Spain, USA, Turkey, Australia, Mexico and Iran.

What do we do?Studies on gypsum ecosystems have traditionally focused on a few parts of the world, with some areas being extensively studied while others remaining nearly unexplored. The aim of this network is to bring together researchers from different areas of the world working on gypsum to undertake studies at the global scale. Three initial collaborative projects are currently underway to understand plant-soil interactions, the different dimensions of biodiversity and the origin of gypsum plants. However, the network should serve as a platform to launch any other global project related to the study of gypsum ecosystems.
